Advance Tau DLS First Thoughts
May 14, 2026
Managed to get two flights on the Tau now, so 3 hours in the air so far. I like it! As usual, the build quality is exquisite — it really oozes quality. With the large cell count and durable cloth, its noticeably bulkier and heavier than my normal Omega ULS, but that’s not out of the ordinary for this type of wing.

Launching is easy and it certainly feels less demanding than its aspect ratio suggests. In the air, it’s super smooth and comfortable. Like a top-end luxury estate car: fast, smooth, and competent.

Big ears are easy and done on the A-lines. Brakes, rear risers, and speed bar are all reasonably light and manageable. There’s good feedback through both the brakes and risers.

I can’t really comment on performance since I was mainly flying alone, but it certainly felt at the top end of its class. A perfect XC mile muncher.
